Social Emotional Success
While academics are important, they are only one important part of education. As we are preparing students for their life beyond school it is also important for them to develop life skills. Social Emotional Learning (SEL) provides students with the opportunities and supports the need as they develop. This page of my showcase focuses on creations focused on SEL skills including students learning about themselves and me learning and supporting my students.
This page focuses on the creations I made that are SEL focused. The are broken into 2 parts: teacher resources and student projects. To see my math focused creations click on the link below.
Teacher Resources

SEL Curriculums
This presentation looks at and reviews different SEL curriculums. This allowed me the opportunity to look at the pros and cons of resources that different schools were using. While there are so many curriculums available this helped me to see that even if a program may not be my "favorite" it has many positive attributes that can help teach students these skills. In this project I demonstrated my ability to be a critical user of curriculum and resources and to be mindful of the resources I use in my classroom.

SEL In Media Website
Throughout the Covid-19 Pandemic and the return back to "normal" social emotional skills were the top priority in my classroom. In order to help students make connection I created a website with lessons related to media such as books and movies. At the time of their creation I did not record the sources from where I sourced my media elements. Throughout the creation of these resources I demonstrated a deepening of my own awareness of social emotional skills and strategies to share this with students in an engaging way.

Brain Breaks Podcast
This is a podcast about the value of using brain breaks in the classroom. Unfortunately due to how it was created transcripts are unavailable for this podcast. Through the creation of this podcast I learned that the little things that are done in a classroom make a big impact on students social emotional regulation and overall success. In this podcast I demonstrated my ability to articulate best practice and identify strategies to incorperate social and emotional learning for students.
Student Projects

Personality Infographic
This assignment asked students to take some personality tests and create an infographic on themselves based on the results. This helped me to provide students with a path to increase self awareness. While personality tests have their pros and cons this highlighted that each and every student has qualities that make them unique and valued. In this project I demonstrated my ability to create and use infographics to enhance learning.

Math Snapshot
This template asks students to reflect on their prior experiences with math and use pictures to articulate their response to different prompts. Students were asked to chose a picture and justify their choice. From the creation of this assignment I learned the value of allowing creative responses to questions and the importance of giving students the opportunity to express themselves. In this creation I demonstrated my ability to use visual representation to communicate and present learning.
